General

What is OSINT, and what is business intelligence?

OSINT, short for Open Source Intelligence, is intelligence built from open information: media, social networks, websites, public records, legal and academic databases, and paid commercial databases.

Business intelligence is the output: information that has been located, sorted, analyzed and turned into a clear answer to your question, with conclusions and recommendations, so you can make a decision. Read more: what is OSINT.

Is the information collected legally?

Yes. Modi-In strictly complies with the law and with the ethical standards of civilian competitive intelligence research, in Israel and in every country where the subjects of the research are located.

I never use stolen or illegal data, never break into websites, and, by a deliberate decision, do not mine the dark web. How I work.

What kind of questions can I ask?

Any question whose answer will help you make a decision: who your competitors are and where their business is heading, whether there is a conflict of interest on a committee or in a deal, what you should know about shareholders before investing, where a person or their heirs can be found, and what lies behind a story in the media.

Examples of research questions I have handled.

Is my name kept confidential?

Yes. Modi-In strictly protects the names and confidentiality of its clients. The subject of the research never appears on the invoice, only its reference number.

Who owns the research at the end?

Once the agreed fee is paid in full, the research becomes entirely yours. From that point it is not used for any further research, it is not passed to any third party, and the client’s name remains confidential.

Until full payment is received, the research remains the property of Modi-In.

Do you work outside Israel?

Yes. Some projects involve companies, non-profits and people outside Israel. When needed, and with your approval, I can bring in a private investigator in Israel and in several locations abroad, as well as professional translation of foreign-language material.

Who are Modi-In’s clients?

Financial intelligence firms, business intelligence firms, private investigators, investors, freelance business intelligence researchers and law firms.

Services & pricing

What do I receive at the end of the research?

Business intelligence, an intelligence picture or a direct answer to your question, with conclusions and recommendations. The goal is a deliverable you can base a decision on.

Where does the information come from?

Open media (newspapers, radio and TV), social networks (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and more), websites, public information (government and authority publications, statistical reports, published minutes and speeches), academic sources, legal sources, paid databases and AI tools.

What is priced separately?

Three add-ons, only at your request and with your approval: a private investigator in Israel and in several locations abroad, professional translation as part of collection and analysis, and data purchased from commercial databases.

Data purchases of up to ILS 200 + VAT per project can be made without prior approval. Anything above that is charged only with your approval in advance.

Which languages do you work in?

Material in Arabic and English usually needs no additional professional translation. In other languages, when the research is meant to drive a decision, I don’t rely on machine translation, and with your approval I bring in a professional translator.

Do you use artificial intelligence?

Yes. AI is one of my tools for finding and sorting information, alongside the other open sources. The analysis, the cross-checking and the conclusions I do myself.

Can a private investigator be added?

Yes. At your request and priced separately, I can bring in a private investigator in Israel and in several locations abroad, when the information needed is not available online.

Law, ethics & confidentiality

Do you hack websites or use stolen data?

No. I never use stolen or illegal data files, and I never break into websites.

Do you collect information on the dark web?

No. It is a deliberate decision: Modi-In does not mine the dark web.

What appears on the invoice?

Only the research reference number. The subject of the research never appears on the invoice.

When does the research become mine?

Once the agreed fee is paid in full. From that moment it is not used for any further research and is never passed to a third party.

Do you follow the law abroad as well?

Yes. Modi-In works in line with the relevant legislation in every territory: in Israel and in every country where the subjects of the research are located.

Types of research

Are these examples real?

Yes. These are research questions submitted to Modi-In. They are presented without identifying details, in line with my confidentiality policy.

Can you research a private individual?

Yes, within the law: locating a person or their heirs, summarizing open-source information about a person, checking whether a decision maker has a conflict of interest, and mapping online threats.

Do you work with lawyers and private investigators?

Yes. Lawyers and private investigators are regular clients: locating shareholders and heirs, tracing the assets of a party that lost a lawsuit, and testing the other side’s claims against open-source information.

Glossary

Business intelligence glossary

Core concepts, in brief

Open-source intelligence

OSINT · Core concept

Collecting and analyzing information that has been published openly and legally: media, social networks, websites and official publications. The value is never in a single piece of information, but in cross-checking many of them.

What is OSINT

Competitive intelligence

CI · Strategy

Systematically mapping competitors, markets and trends to spot risks and opportunities before they make the headlines. Done from open sources only: no espionage, no deception.

Competitive intelligence

Conflict of interest

Integrity

When a decision maker has a personal, business or family tie to one of the parties. Open-source research can reveal past work together, family ties and social connections.

Conflict-of-interest checks

Due diligence

Investment

A check before an investment, acquisition or partnership. On the intelligence side it focuses on people: who the shareholders are, what their business history is, and whether there is negative information you should know in advance.

Pre-investment background checks

Heir tracing

Locating people

Searching for a person or their heirs, sometimes decades after contact was lost, about property, an inheritance or shares. Combines public records, legal databases and family research.

Locating heirs

Client confidentiality

Policy

The client’s name and the subject of the research stay confidential. The invoice shows only a reference number, and once paid in full, the research belongs to the client.
